Derek says I drove so slow even Ginger got bored trotting along beside me. :) I'm so glad I can be entertaining for my family without even trying. :)
Kaleb did plenty of driving around by himself. When he finally took a break he said it's because his thumb was tired. I guess pushing that throttle is hard work. :)
Aaron rode with Derek of course, and even Ginger rode on the back. I'd like to say she hopped on eagerly, but that would be a lie. Truth be told, she struggled to find her footing and Derek had to hold her in place. Poor dog is too big for her own good sometimes! :)
| Aaron's chumby-wumby cheeks were so cute in that helmet. |
Aaron did manage to sneak in some solo time on the big 4-wheeler. Derek got to him before he could go anywhere though. I love the look in his face in this picture. If he could've driven away, he would've!
The sun came out for a while, and I admit I gave up my turn at the wheel and took a nap in the sun for a bit. My father-in-law likes to do that when he hunts, so I thought I'd honor him by following the example he's set. :) Later we drove to the lake to see it frozen. Quite a change from when we're boating in the summer! The boys loved throwing rocks out on the ice. No surprise, since they also love throwing rocks in the water during warmer months. We saw a few bald eagles, and that was especially fun for Kaleb. My favorite part of the whole day was at a small park overlooking the lake. Derek and the boys had snowball fights, Ginger chased them around until she was out of breath, and I stood there and took it all in. We even found a football in nice condition, thanks to Ginger's investigative skills. :)
On the drive home the car smelled like a muddy wet dog. We listened to a "Hank the Cowdog" story on cd. And I realized it was the best thing we could've done on that Saturday in February.

Howdy All!
Somehow seeing a girl in a pink jacket on a 4x4 does not compute after seeing the boys all dressed in their blue/black outfits!! If Ginger could distinguish colors, she would have no problem finding the girl in a pink jacket on the 4x4!!
It sure looked like a Great day!!
Thanks for the pics and sharing!!
Love, Dad/Grampy.
