Date Night

Derek and I had a much-needed night out together recently. May 14th, but that still qualifies as recent, doesn't it? :) With the kids at Grandma and Grandpa's house, we had the evening to ourselves. We started out by attending two high school grad. open houses. Thanks to Derek's job, he gets invited to a lot of these. Even though I don't know these high school kids, they know my husband. I enjoy watching him interact with them and hearing them talk about life. Many of them have had tough home lives, and they are rising above their circumstances with the choices they make. I'm proud of Derek for the many ways he invests in the lives of these kids.

Next we did some shopping. What a guy. :) He went way out of his comfort zone and helped me find some new capris. He could have sat on a bench in the mall, but he didn't. We got some Cherry Lime-aids from Sonic and went to the movies! Since he helped me go shopping, the least I could do was see a movie he would enjoy: Iron Man 2. To make it even better, we saw this movie before my dad AND my brother. That has to be a first for us! :)

The night ended too soon, but isn't that the way it always goes? We came home to find our 3 kids asleep--thanks Grandma and Grandpa! Derek and I needed this! :)

It's somehow sweeter when you come home to sleeping kids, isn't it? So glad you got out together. And I think you're amazing for driving to your parents' solo!

Isn't date night great? And you're so fortunate to have grandparents to babysit!
