Derek had a good birthday 2 weeks ago. I surprised him by delivering a big birthday cookie to him at work, remembering last year Aaron came with me to do that. This year's cookie had a camper on it. :)
After work, he opened his gifts from us. It was a fun time together as a family. For supper he picked Monte Cristo sandwiches, and all evening he received phone calls from family members wishing him a happy birthday.
On Friday the 13th, Braylen and Kaleb partied at the school lock-in from 3-11pm. They worked all year to meet their reading goals, earning them a trip to the middle school for this lock-in. I like to volunteer for a few hours every year, and this year was extra special for me since it was Braylen's last lock-in. He wore a bright pink t-shirt for his dodge ball team, thanks to the girls who bought the team shirts. :)
On Saturday, we celebrated Derek's birthday with our family in town. I fixed his favorite casserole and we enjoyed more family time together. Afterwards, we finally agreed to let the kids spend the night in the camper.

During the last week of school, all 3 boys played the piano in their talent shows. They have to introduce themselves, their song, and that they'll be playing it on the piano. This is in front of the whole school, and I'm always amazed at their bravery. :)
So here we are, almost one week into our summer break, and we're STILL waiting for my nephew to be born. My poor sister-in-law! Hopefully my next post will be about his arrival! I also want to share a bit more about the last day of school and our special teachers.
In closing, some funnies:
Aaron said, "You know why I read so much? It makes stuff make more sense." Well put, my boy. :)
When riding on a gravel road recently, Aaron shouted out, "Woah! That got the funnies out of me!"
Braylen still says "muckus" instead of "mucous." He also told me his friend had a baseball tournament in Sewage. Umm, I hope there's not a town named Sewage. :)
