Here, There, & Everywhere

This is my week to drive all over town, picking up and dropping off at soccer camp, baseball, and swimming lessons. Braylen and Kaleb take turns sitting in the front seat, which also means they take turns choosing our music. Using an iPod, they pick a lot of Toby Mac songs. The Newsboys and Matthew West are some more favorites. Every now and then I put a request in for something different, but not too often. When school starts again I can listen to whatever I want. This time with them in the car is actually fun. :) Aaron counts how many birds he sees, and Kaleb counts his hiccups. Yesterday Aaron counted 45 birds, and Kaleb counted 100 hiccups! Braylen's always on the lookout for Mustangs.

This week we're gearing up for something big, something I will write about next time. But for now, here are a few funnies and updates from our week.

Braylen participated in a flag day ceremony yesterday at a retirement center. I think this might be the last Boy Scout activity for a while, and I'll admit it--I'm thankful for some time off. Anyway, he brought home the program from this ceremony and it made me smile. Apparently, the "Star Spangled Banner" was sung by LeAnn Rimes, and "God Bless America" was sung by Celine Dion. When I asked Braylen about the celebrity appearances, he told me they watched them on youtube. Can you picture a group of elderly men and women singing along with these singers via youtube? :) It struck me as funny. Also, the crowd was instructed to "please stand if able." :)

some pictures from camp last week!
Kaleb and Aaron declared they were hot today. This usually means they turn the ceiling fan on high, but today it meant something else. I turned around and they had taken off their shirts! They played for about an hour like that in the house. Cheap air conditioning, I guess. :)

My favorite way to cool off. We went swimming in the lake on Sunday, and I tried out my new kneeboard. Fun fun!
There are some changes happening at the cabin. Derek's parents decided to build a large garage to put the boats in, which will be so nice to have. The boys had fun climbing all over the construction site, and nobody got hurt. :)

Aaron had fun playing baseball with Daddy last night. Kaleb played catcher, and of course I thought of my brother. Eric frequently played catcher in Little League, and I will always remember going to his games. Dad coached, Mom kept score, and I visited the concession stand. :)

Derek had a great idea to help Aaron learn how to swing his bat! He has this bad habit of swinging down instead of straight across.
I really like having everyone together again. It's been a fun week, and there's more fun yet to come. :)
