School Boys

School officially started last Thursday, and we are still getting used to our structured routine. Braylen loves 3rd grade. His classroom looks like he's camping out--very awesome! Kaleb told me first grade is WAY better than kindergarten. :) His room is filled with frogs and he's "hoppy" to be back in school. Of course nothing in life is easy, so we battled strep throat on Friday (a not-so-nice-happy birthday to me!). I pulled Kaleb out of school when I got the phone call from the clinic that his overnight throat culture had come back positive. After a few doses of medicine he felt much better.

We piled in the Suburban (with my parents) Friday afternoon and drove to Colorado Springs for a whirlwind weekend getaway. We partied at Focus on the Family's "Adventures in Odyssey" 20th Birthday Bash. After lots of fun and lots of driving, I am glad to be back home. It was cold and rainy in Colorado, but you know what? I was relieved! I've had enough hot sweaty days to last me until next summer. My mom and I enjoyed celebrating our birthdays together, and Braylen's birthday celebration extended into the weekend too. We even had a yummy chocolate cake at Olive Garden Saturday night. The kids swam in the hotel pool, mini-golfed Sunday morning, and Kaleb even had a visit from the tooth fairy! He wants to know how she knew he was in Colorado? :)
