Soccer Star and Stuff

Since late August, Kaleb's been playing soccer with the big nets--that's what he calls it. :) He's on such a great team. The boys play together well and it's fun to have several friends on the team with him. When the coaches are out to have fun, you know the boys will have fun as well. Braylen's played soccer for many seasons, and it's fun to see a different son of ours tear up the field for a change. When Braylen plays, he's usually the one with the ball. He's fast and furious on the field. With Kaleb, we've noticed he's a bit more cautious. He does his share of running with the ball, but he kind of uses his body as a wall, bouncing other players off of him. Body slamming isn't the right term, since he's not intentionally slamming into other kids. He's just solid. Whether it's the ball or another boy, Kaleb lets it bounce right off of him. Kind of like a defensive lineman for soccer! Anyway, he has fun and we have fun watching him.

Ready at the net

Braylen's playing flag football this fall instead of soccer. Oh how that boy loves football! I hope to get some pictures sometime this month of his games. So far we have none. Yesterday Braylen started something new to our family: he had his first piano lesson. Another milestone to remember! I think he likes it more than he lets on. In our school system a child needs at least 2 years of piano before they allow him to play percussion. For Braylen, piano lessons are his ticket to becoming a drummer like his daddy. I remember taking lessons and giving it up after a year or so. My brother kept at it, so we'll see what Braylen does.

Tonight Derek and Aaron are tent camping. Aaron could not wipe the grin off his face all day long--he was so excited for tonight! To see Aaron get Daddy all to himself is something new. Braylen, and especially Kaleb, weren't too thrilled. To help keep things fun at home, we made it a movie night. Ice cream sundaes and all. Up till 10. Plenty of tickling and a pillow fight. Who says spending the night with Mom has to be a downer, right?
