Since I enjoy celebrating my kids' birthdays so much, we usually have more than one party. Aaron's birthday week was no different. His first party was at Grandma and Grandpa's house. With Grandma's help, I made a meal Aaron likes--taco ring, jello jigglers, chips/salsa, and corn bread muffins. Dessert was, of course, birthday cake. Aaron wanted a Star Wars Stormtrooper cake and chocolate ice cream. I had my work cut out for me!

After supper Aaron opened his presents. He's been asking for Loopz since Christmas, and was delighted to receive it for his birthday! He also got a thermos for his lunch box, and he calls it his "furnace." So far he's taken hot dogs and leftovers in it and both times his food stayed warm. His aunt and uncle gave him a Go Fish cd we didn't have, and they also wrapped up a box of Wheat Thins for him. I think he loved those crackers just as much as his new Loopz game!
Cake time came next. He liked his Stormtrooper cake, eating every bite, along with all of his chocolate ice cream. I'm just glad he could tell what the cake was supposed to be! :)
It's hard to believe 7 years have gone by this fast. For a few months our boys are all odd ages: 7, 9, and 11. I feel blessed and privileged to be their mom. :)
On Aaron's real birthday, the 12th, I picked him up from school for lunch. He picked McDonald's, so we drove through and brought it home. It felt a bit like his preschool days--just the two of us at home for lunch. :) After school, Aaron had his second birthday party. Two of his best school buddies came over to play and eat a yummy frosted cookie. Kaleb and Braylen joined in, of course. Then we piled back in the van and drove to the police station for a tour. Derek let the boys climb all over his cruiser, and they also got to sit on one of the motorcycles. The flashing lights, sirens, and helmet were a big hit! So was the camera in the cruiser. I think they had the most fun making faces and seeing themselves on screen. Derek gave each boy some stickers for their bike helmets, an eraser, and some DARE stickers. What an easy birthday party!!! And how fun for Aaron!
After taking his friends home, I made Aaron's birthday supper. Much to his brothers' delight, he picked meatloaf. They all love meatloaf! (The other day when we were eating pizza I said this to Aaron: "Stop eating carrots and eat some pizza." Isn't that backwards?) I loved our family time as we ate supper and watched Aaron open his presents.
He was happy with each gift, and no, not everything was Star Wars. Just most of it. :) His Uncle Eric told him in a card to have a "blast" on his birthday and Aaron said, "I'll bet this is a blaster gun!" He was right, the little turkey. He read his own birthday cards this year. My little reader.
What a joy it was to celebrate our spring boy this week! Age 7 for Aaron means:
- He reads everything in sight.
- He's still hard to get up in the morning.
- His favorite foods are meatloaf and meatballs.
- His favorite thing to do with free time is play the Wii.
- He's learning how to play the piano.
- He's still as flexible as ever, and a very fast runner.
- He still gives me monkey hugs and lets me call him Boo-Boo.
