Kids on the Move

I pictured July to be a bit more relaxing than it is. Maybe it's because the kids are getting older, but we sure pack a lot of things into our summer days. Last week Kaleb and Aaron went to an activity camp together for 4 afternoons. They wore step counters and played lots of games. I've never signed them up for something like this, so I really didn't know what to expect. They ended up really enjoying it! I loved watching them have fun together. Kaleb and Braylen also took tennis lessons together for 4 evenings. Again, this was a new activity for us. Would they like it? They did! Kaleb is our bridge between Braylen and Aaron, so he got to enjoy both activities last week. :)

Since we've "discovered" a new sport, our boys spend lots of time outside hitting tennis balls around our street. Braylen and Kaleb ride their bikes to some nearby tennis courts, and Aaron discovered a racquetball racket is easier for him to use than a tennis racket. :) All 5 of us recently spent some time playing tennis at the park, and it was fun for me to see how much Derek enjoys this sport.

We were having all kinds of fun outside...and then the heat wave hit. No more tennis for now. To spend time outside this week, we have to be in the water. Yesterday we played at a waterpark with some very special friends, and I remember thinking, "what heatwave?" Such a perfect day to stay cool at the waterpark!

When I look back on our summer, these are the kinds of days I want to remember. Spending time with people we love, and doing things together.  I didn't get any more waterpark pictures yesterday, and Braylen said, "It's okay Mom, you made memories instead." I couldn't have said it better.
